October 2023

Oak Glen has been a fun place to visit in the fall but with the pandemic I hadn't been in awhile. We ended up going for the day with Joel and Virginia.

The day was hot and because of recent fires a few things were closed but we still had a fun time exploring, buying things from vendors, and going to the petting zoo.

One day our "My Women" group called Penny and let her know that we were planning a birthday getaway to all get together to celebrate in San Diego. She was surprised and pleased.

At school we did a lab making roller coasters to demonstrate physics and force and motion and I got to go to a 2 day conference. They ended up feeding us and the classes were good. I enjoyed it a lot and it was only at UCR so I didn't even have to travel far from home.

We had another concert that we went to with my family. This was a pre-pandemic concert that was finally happening. Pet Shop Boys! It brought a lot of memories of my teenage years.

I had the opportunity to babysit Paisley while Angela, Robert and Ian went to Knotts Scary Farm. Paisley and I had a girls evening of crafts and lots of stickers and mess.

Since the Zooks were over we took the opportunity to do some fun Halloween cookie decorating.

Who did it best? Maddie loves when the kids come to visit. All the snuggles and attention is her favorite.

In Ashley and Conute news, Ashley got to go to Kate's baby shower in Idaho.

Ashley and Conute have a Dungeons and Dragons group and she's enjoyed playing despite her never imagining herself playing dungeons and dragons. Conute is the chef in their household and he is often making yummy things for them to eat.

Conute asked his mom if she had any pictures of him as a child. He didn't think there were any baby pictures of him but sure enough she mailed them some pictures!

On Halloween the Taylor's had Vanessa and Jared and family over along with Jolene. They went trick or treating and hung out.

Our team at work decided to dress up this year and enter the costume contest. We worked hard on our homemade costumes and even passed out chips to the students to help win votes. We didn't win. We lost to the PE department who bought their shark costumes and played baby shark. We felt we were robbed, ha ha. We thought our costumes turned out good and we made a calendar with this picture.

That night we went to the Spongberg's and sat in their driveway as we passed out candy and had potluck food.
