In the Month of March I got to chaperone the school dance at Central Middle School.
They had the dance outdoors which was nice so we weren't cooped up in the gym with loud music.
The only bad things were that some of the kids who weren't allowed to come to the dance thought it would be a good idea to go to the gate and throw eggs. That caused a commotion.
I was taking pictures for the students with their phones...then I dropped one and cracked the screen and ended up having to pay to have it fixed. Learned my lesson.
In our classes we had a door decorating contest and a lab/lesson where the students were invited to hide camouflaged geckos and butterflies in plain sight around the room. Some of them got pretty tricky with them! They seemed to really like the activity.
The kickoff dinner got pushed back some because of Covid but this year we were able to have the even in person which was nice.
We enjoyed reuniting with all of our New York Life Friends that night.
I was able to celebrate Jeff and his accomplishments for the year with him. Way to go Jeff!
This year the New York Life Council trip was postpone (again due to Covid) and this year it fell during my spring break so there was no conflict attending!
We drove to Scottsdale with Jeff's Tesla which was the farthest that we've driven it before. Each was we had to stop for a charge but it was nice because there was food and a bathroom at each place and one of the stops had a fun place to go shopping and we found some things we liked.
Once we got to the Biltmore we had to take Covid tests before we could check in. My test had an error so I had to take it again which made things take longer but I finally passed and we were good to go to check in.
Our room was huge and the hotel was beautiful.
After relaxing a bit we got dressed to go to our first dinner that was out by the pool.
For the family day we were taken on a bus to a local botanical gardens. I loved it and loved the glass sculptures that were part of it as well. I ended up being a nice New York Life wife that I hung out with for the day (I was wondering if I was going to have to hang out alone for the day).
I enjoyed walking around the gardens and enjoying the sculptures while Jeff was in meetings.
On one of the other excursions Jeff and I got to go on a kayak ride down the river and here about the desert wildlife and plants. It was a mellow journey and not a difficult paddle. We both enjoyed it.
One of the nights is always a dress up night as everyone is recognized with their awards.
On the last night of the conference we had a nice dinner and then enjoyed a concert. There were a number of 90's bands and a mixture of music we really enjoyed it. It brought back memories for sure.
Before we drove home we spent a day of visiting before we headed back to California.
We got to visit Jeff's aunt Jeannie at her home. We haven't seen her in a number of years and she was doing well.
The next house we went to was Jared and Vanessa's. We got to meet their baby Sterling for the first time.
We loved snuggling with the kids and being able to bring them Easter treats since nobody is still in town to be able to do our big Easter Egg hunts like we used to enjoy doing.
We also got to visit Jenise and Sean's house and got a tour. This was the first time that we have seen their house. We also got to bring treats to their kids but we didn't get a chance to get any pictures while we were at their house but we did get to go to one of Caden's baseball games! It was a fun treat to be able to spend so much time visiting the Arizona family.
Ashley and Conute are happily making wedding plans. They took some couple pictures but because it's Idaho of course there is snow in the background.
Ashley's friends (a lot of them from Riverside) held an early Bridal shower for her. One of her friends were leaving for a mission and so they did it a bit early. I was so happy they got to celebrate with her since her wedding will be in New York to accommodate Conute's family and her friends won't be able to make it.
