Gwendalock Ireland July 2023

After a proper English breakfast of eggs, bacon (more like America's Canadian bacon), beans and tomato we left Dublin to venture into the countryside and went to Glendalough which is a cemetery which also has ruins of old churches, houses and a tower surrounded by grass and  green hills.

One of the things that was there was a round tower. You couldn't go inside but it was pretty impressive just seeing it from the outside. It looks like what I would imagine Rapunzel's tower to look like. Round towers were the bell towers of early Irish, and were used by monasteries to summon their monks to prayer.

While we were there we took a hike through the countryside and saw the Poulanass waterfall and then walked on to the lake.

After all our hiking we were hungry for dinner which we ate at a little place right on the shore in the seaside town of Bray. They had this interesting display in the back of the restaurant that was a model of the place and it was added to during Covid by residents (like the Barbie) and they ended up putting it under glass and had it on display.
