Jared and Vanessa's Wedding

It's been almost a month since Jared and Vanessa have been married. We were happy to be able to celebrate with them along the way. From the bridal shower, to Vanessa's first trip to the temple, the wedding and then the reception there have been lots of opportunities to celebrate the happy couple!

We got to go to the Newport Temple a week before the wedding to be with Vanessa as she went for the first time.

It was a sweet experience. Jeff and I got to be the witness couple (this is only the 2nd time in 20 years that we've been invited to do so). There were a lot of family members sick so we were especially glad that we were able to be there to support them.

After the temple we went to a restaurant to eat.

Everyone else had dinner but Jeff and I just got dessert.

A favorite place to go when we go to the temple now is Café Rio. Since I know the Medinas don't like it we snuck a quick dinner before we got there ;)

The next week on Friday was the actual wedding.

Jeff and I were married in the San Diego temple on the first day it was opened. It was fun to be back sitting in the same room we got married in watching our nephew and his wife be married there.

All of the Beaulieu side of the family.

The Medina side of the family

Ashley wanted to come too even though she had to wait outside until we were done. She didn't mind when other people took her picture but wasn't as happy when I was taking it.

Ashley was excited to come and help babysit Caden while we were in the wedding.

It helped that Ashley had other friends there as well.

Brothers and sisters becoming all grown up!

It was a beautiful day, at a beautiful temple.

With a beautiful couple.

Way to go Jared and Vanessa!

After the wedding we all went to a restaurant for dinner. We had our own private room and enjoyed being able to hang out together. At the end of dinner when we were getting ready to leave I notice some of the kids sneaking outside.

What are they up too?

Hmmm. Someone got the idea that the car needed to be decorated. Since nobody had anything to decorate it with, someone asked the manager of the restaurant who gave them a giant roll of toilet paper and a cup of whip cream to decorate the car with. Pretty good for an impromptu job.

Steve came outside to observe their handy work and wasn't as impressed.
"I just washed the car this morning!" he lamented.

The next night was the wedding reception.

It started off with a ring ceremony and a yummy dinner...

and after the bride and groom started us off with a dance everyone else enjoyed dancing...

These two are just the cutest together!

I think everyone's favorite was the candy table. The stuff in the jars were gone before the night was over!

When we walked into the reception we were able to write some advice to the happy couple. It got me remembering to my first days, weeks and months of being married. I remembered learning to get along, work together, learning to disagree without being disagreeable and so on.

I remember early in our marriage really being mad at Jeff and praying about how to handle it (thinking I was right and he was wrong) instead I ended the prayer with a softer heart and insight into how I needed to change. It reminded me of a quote that I have in my scriptures. It's my new favorite because I've learned over the years that it's true.

"We are not perfect. The people around us are not perfect. People do things that annoy, disappoint, and anger. In this mortal life it will always be that way. Nevertheless, we must let go of our grievances. Part of the purpose of mortality is to learn how to let go of such things. That is the Lord's way. Remember, heaven is filled with those who have this in common: They are forgiven. And, they forgive." President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

So Jared and Vanessa, with that we wish you all the best as you learn to laugh, love, forgive and just enjoy the journey together! Love you guys.
